Family History & Legacy
Dustin’s leadership is shaped by a distinguished multigenerational legacy of public service, education, civil rights, and cultural advancement. He is a descendant of Dr. Joseph E. Maddy, founder of Interlochen Center for the Arts and a national pioneer in arts education; Janet Elizabeth Rieder-Henderson, whose family helped build Michigan’s early transportation infrastructure through the Saginaw–Flint Plank Road Company; and Dean A. Robb, Michigan’s renowned civil rights attorney whose work defined an era of justice and advocacy. Their collective influence—spanning innovation, courage, craftsmanship, and service—forms the philosophical backbone of Dennco Holding Company. Dustin carries this heritage forward by grounding the organization’s mission in integrity, community advancement, and long-term regional impact.
Dr. Joseph E Maddy
A visionary in American arts education, Dr. Joseph E. Maddy reshaped the cultural landscape with his pioneering work in music performance, teacher training, and youth arts development. As the founder of Interlochen Center for the Arts, he created a global standard for artistic excellence that continues to inspire generations. His commitment to creativity, discipline, and opportunity remains a guiding influence within the Maddy family and a foundational pillar in the values of Dennco Holding Company.
Dean A. Robb
A champion of civil rights and fearless advocate for justice, Dean A. Robb devoted his life to defending those whose voices were ignored. As one of Michigan’s most influential attorneys, he stood at the forefront of the civil rights movement, representing activists, everyday citizens, and national figures — including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. — at a time when taking such cases demanded real courage.
Dean’s career centered on the belief that fairness is a duty, not an option. He helped redefine how the law could protect people, leaving behind a legacy of advocacy that shaped Michigan’s legal landscape. His leadership, compassion, and willingness to take on the cases others refused remain guiding principles within the Dennco family and are celebrated as part of the company’s foundational values.
Rudolph Charles “R.C.” Rieder
A pioneering builder and civic leader, R.C. Rieder helped shape early Michigan infrastructure. As a key figure tied to the Saginaw–Flint Plank Road era, he laid groundwork for modern regional transportation and community growth. His legacy reflects practical engineering, public service, and a firm belief that strong infrastructure improves everyday life.
Janet Elizabeth Rieder-Henderson
During her early career, Janet Elizabeth Rieder-Henderson served as a geology instructor for the University of Michigan Extension Service, following her tenure with the Standard Oil Company of California. A specialist in micro-paleontology, she earned her Master’s degree in geology and contributed meaningful research during a time when women in the earth sciences were still breaking barriers.
Beyond the lab and classroom, Janet was a licensed pilot — a rarity for women of her era — and later brought her technical background and pioneering spirit to work supporting NASA initiatives. Her career reflects a lifelong commitment to scientific exploration, education, and challenging the limits placed on women in STEM.
